Gryphon soccer women blanked by Brock

ST. CATHARINES – A goal in the 53rd minute gave the Brock Badgers a 1-0 victory over the Guelph Gryphons in OUA women’s soccer league play Friday at Brock.

Emily Armstrong scored the game’s only goal.

Libby Brenneman was in net for the Gryphs while Marilena Spagnolo was credited with the shutout for Brock.

The Badgers took six shots in the game, twice as many as the Gryphs.

The loss drops Guelph to 7-3-2 and leaves the Gryphs tied for second in the West Division with the Laurier Golden Hawks (6-2-5). The Western Mustangs lead at 10-1-0.

Brock is sixth in the West at 4-7-1.

The Gryphs are to host the McMaster Marauders (2-5-5) Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Gryphons Soccer Complex.
