Guelph Prep hoops girls dropped by Lincoln Prep

GUELPH – The Guelph Prep Junior Gryphons fell behind early and never recovered as they dropped their Ontario Scholastic Basketball Association girls’ match with Lincoln Prep 76-32 Saturday at the Mitchell Athletics Centre.

Lincoln Prep led 20-9 at the end of the first half, 38-14 at halftime and 58-18 at the end of the third quarter.

Due to injuries, Guelph Prep had seven players available for the match.

The Jr. Gryphs didn’t score any three-pointers in the match and scored half their points on foul shots. Mya Iriah led Guelph Prep with nine points and was followed by Naomi Ganpo with seven, Keanna Samuels and Mackenzie Obermayer with six apiece and Shanese Miller and Murielle Mpiana with two each.

Four players hit double figures in scoring for Lincoln as Aiden Rainford and Hanna Hall had 14 points apiece, Mia Spadafora had 12 and Alaina McMillan had 10.

The result leaves Lincoln Prep at 6-4 and Guelph Prep at 1-8.

Guelph Prep is to host Bill Crothers (5-3) Friday at 6:30 p.m.
