Guelph Storm sends goalie Ceci to Oshawa

GUELPH – The Guelph Storm dealt goaltender Cole Ceci to the Oshawa Generals Tuesday.

The 6-foot-2, 168-pound Ceci appeared in two road games with the Storm after he was acquired from the Hamilton Bulldogs Sept. 22. He replaced starter Anthony Popovich for half the game in a 7-1 loss to the Flint Firebirds last Thursday and played the entire game in a 6-1 loss to the Sarnia Sting last Saturday.

In all, Ceci played 90 minutes with the Storm, allowing 10 goals for a 6.69 goals-against average and .825 save percentage.

The Storm acquired an eighth-round draft pick in 2020 for Ceci. They sent a conditional ninth-round pick in 2018 to Hamilton to get Ceci.

Nico Daws, a 6-foot-5, 223-pound rookie who was selected in the seventh round of the 2016 draft, is expected to back up Popovich.

The Storm will be out to snap its three-game losing streak Friday when they host the Bulldogs at the Sleeman Centre. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
