Guelph’s Rachel Pollock 59th in national women’s tournament
NEW MINAS, NS — Rachel Pollock of Guelph finished the Canadian women’s amateur golf championship at the Ken-Wo Golf Club tied for 59th.
Pollock shot a four-round total of 24-over 304. After opening with an 8-over 78, she fired a 73 in the second round and a 75 in the third round before finishing with a 78 in Friday’s final round.
Korea’s Hye-jin Choi won the tournament at 9-under 271 after shooting all four rounds in the 60s. Andrea Lee of Hermosa Beach, Calif., Australia’s Hannah Green and Allisen Corpuz of Honolulu tied for second at 275.
Samantha Spencer of Georgetown was tied for 62nd at 305. She was consistent as she fired three rounds of 76 and one of 77.
By winning Choi earns exemptions into the Canadian Pacific Women’s Open Aug. 22-28 at Calgary’s Priddis Greens Golf & Country Club, Manulife LPGA Classic Aug. 31-Sept. 4 at Cambridge’s Whistle Bear Golf Club and the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship Aug. 3-7 at Rolling Green Golf Club in Springfield, Pa.
The 2017 Canadian women’s amateur championship tournament is to be held at Cutten Fields July 25-28.
