Guelph’s Wickens second at EuroSpeedway

KLETTWITZ, Germany – Robert Wickens of Guelph finished as the runner-up in the DTM German Touring Car championship series race at EuroSpeedway Lausitz Saturday.

Wickens completed the 43-lap race in his Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM in 56 minutes, 41.116 seconds to finish 3.613 seconds behind teammate Lucas Auer in the first of two DTM races at the track this weekend.

The Guelph racer had qualified second for the first race while Auer had started from pole position.

Auer leads the series standings with 68 points as he also scored a win during the opening meet of the season at Hockenheim two weeks ago.

Wickens is seventh in the series with 20 points after leaving Hockenheim without a point.

The second race at EuroSpeedway Lausitz is slated for Sunday.
