Jessey The Elf victorious in Grimsby sprint triathlon

GRIMSBY – Former University of Guelph student Jessey The Elf claimed the victory Sunday in the Niagara Subaru Triathlon’s sprint triathlon.

The Elf finished the event in one hour, 16 minutes and 55.2 seconds to win by just under a minute and eight seconds.

Aaron DeJong of Waterdown was second and third went to Chris Howe of Toronto.

Top female finisher was Sheila Treleaven of Grimsby who was 10th overall in 1:24:58.1. Carley Somerset of Guelph was runner-up, about two and a half minutes behind in 14th overall.

Patrick Robitaille of Rockwood was 52nd and Jack Bone of Guelph 85th.

Andrew Barnes of Guelph won the meet’s sprint swim/bike in 57:15.4 and Josh Leblanc of Guelph won the sprint duathlon in 1:19:55.3 while Sharon Immerkar of Guelph was 26th in the Try-a-Tri.
