Junior Varsity Gryphons nipped by Mississauga

BRAMPTON – The Guelph Junior Gryphons suffered a 7-6 loss to the Mississauga Warriors in Ontario Provincial Football League junior varsity play Saturday at Jean Augustine Secondary School.

All scoring in the game was limited to the fourth quarter.

Johnathon Wegman caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Peyton Garvin for the score for the Junior Gryphs.

Garvin completed four of 16 pass attempts for 88 yards and the touchdown. He was intercepted once and sacked once.

Gabe Valedis, Gabriel Tersigni and Ethan Bizjak each caught one pass.

Garvin had eight carries for 40 yards rushing while Valedis had seven carries for 11 yards.

On defence, Logan Clyde had 14 tackles while Enzo Njo had nine and Andrew Newbigging and Jack Alfieri each had four. Clyde also hauled down an interception.
