Local trio place in top 10 of Steve Bauer Classic

PELHAM – Three local cyclists finished in the top 10 of the elite 1&2 men’s race in Saturday’s Steve Bauer Classic cycling meet.

Jordann Jones of Jerseyville, Ont., won in a time of three hours, seven minutes and 47 seconds for an average speed of 39.6 km/h.

Runner-up was Bruce Bird of Toronto who was two seconds behind.

Benoit Boulay of Guelph finished fifth in 3:08:39 and Kyle Boorsma of Guelph was sixth, 47 seconds behind Toronto Hustle teammate Boulay.

Ryan Roth of Guelph, who rides for the Silber Pro Cycling team and won the event in 2014 and 2015, was 10th in 3:10:48.

Ethan Sittlington of Elora was third in the elite 3 & junior men’s race in 2:33:41. Toronto Hustle riders finished in the top two places with Graydon Staples of Oro Medonte winning in 2:30:45 and Noah Simms of Barrie finishing one minute and 46 seconds behind in second place.

Mark Sittlington of Elora was fifth in the master 2 men’s race in 2:02:05. Scott Dickie of Kitchener won in 2:01:18.
