Locals set for OFSAA wrestling championships

WINDSOR – A total of 18 local wrestlers are to compete in the OFSAA provincial high school championship meet that is to start Tuesday at the Windsor Family Credit Union Centre.

The Guelph CVI Green Gaels and Centre Wellington Falcons each have six wrestlers at the meet while the Ross Royals have four and the Lourdes Crusaders and Erin Raiders each have one.

Representing GCVI are Tristan Cako (38 kg boys), Hugh Smart (47.5 kg boys), Donny Smart (57.5 kg boys), Ben James (83 kg boys), Aaron Pacha (130 kg boys) and Jananey Rajagopalan (44 kg girls).

Centre Wellington wrestlers at the meet include Aiden Skerritt (44 kg boys), Neal Teri (83 kg boys), Russel Dyce (89 kg boys), Jake Fletcher (95 kg boys), Kenna Winget (44 kg girls) and Esmee Hotson (57.5 kg girls).

Miyuru Sahan (51 kg boys), Pierre Arabadjian (67.5 kg boys), Massouda Abdul Hamid (51 kg girls) and Saneika Patterson (64 kg girls) of the Ross Royals qualified for the meet.

Izzy Roberts is to wrestle for Lourdes in the 44 kg girls class and Erin Brooksbank of Erin is to compete in the 83 kg girls category.

Wrestling was to start Tuesday with the semifinals and finals slated for Wednesday.
