Moondoggie/Leslie Howard take Diamanté Sunday Classic
ROCKWOOD — Leslie Howard guided Moondoggie around the jump-off course fastest to claim the win in the $35,000 Diamanté Sunday Classic Sunday at Angelstone Farms.
The jump off featured 14 horse/rider combinations that had clear trips in the opening round and nine of those turned in clear trips in the jump off.
Moondoggie/Howard completed the jump-off course in 35.807 seconds to win by more than a second. Teddy Du Bosquetiau/Ian Millar were the runners-up at 37.100 while third went to Fortis Fortuna/Daniel Coyle in 37.223.
Others with clear trips in the jump off were Stanley Stone/Kim Farlinger in 37.916, D’arnita/Molly Ashe-Cawley in 38.632, Dixson/Ian Millar in 40.936, Caprice/Jonathon Millar in 41.662, Vittorio 8/Ian Millar in 42.264 and Quel Cadans Z/Nina Fagerstrom in 42.363.
The win was the second of the week in the featured event of Angelstone’s The National meet as she’d ridden Quadam to the $49,700 Greenhawk Open Welcome Friday.
Ian Millar took Baranus to the win in Saturday’s $86,000 Engle & Völkers Grand Prix.
Angelstone’s The International meet starts Wednesday. Feature events are Saturday’s $86,000 Groupby Grand Prix at 8 p.m., Thursday’s $49,700 Kubota Open Welcome at 6 p.m. and Sunday’s $35,000 PDI Sunday Classic at 11 a.m.
