Patriots blank Walkerton to pull even in Pollock final

MOUNT FOREST – A quick start and making the most of their power plays helped the Mount Forest Patriots take Game 4 and even their Provincial Junior Hockey League Pollock Division final with the Walkerton Hawks Saturday night at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

The Patriots scored three times, twice with a manpower advantage, in the first period on their way to a 4-0 victory. Both teams have two wins in the series.

Walkerton outshot the Patriots 38-29 including a 14-5 advantage in the third period as the Hawks pressed for a goal. Mount Forest went 3-for-7 on the power play and held Walkerton scoreless on seven power plays.

Mathieu Oullette recorded the shutout for the Patriots, his second of the playoffs and the series. Ryan Winter took the loss for Walkerton he allowed the four goals on 24 shots through the first two periods while Kallen Macumber stopped all five shots in the third.

Ostop Mostowy, Ryley Cribbin, Blair Butchart and Jack Vautour had a goal apiece for the Patriots. Troy Oakley had two assists while Vautour, Mostowy, Brendon Aitken and Cribbin had one apiece.

The game was a physical one with a total of 83 minutes in penalties and two game misconducts awarded.

Game 5 is set for Sunday at the Walkerton Community Centre starting at 3:20 p.m. Game 6 is to go at Mount Forest Friday at 8 p.m.

The winner of the series plays the winner of the best-of-seven Carruthers Division final. The Alliston Hornets lead the Stayner Siskins 2-0 with Game 3 set for Sunday afternoon at Stayner.
