Patriots skate to another win over Hanover

MOUNT FOREST – The Mount Forest Patriots held the Hanover Barons scoreless for more than 58 and a half minutes to claim a 4-1 victory in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Saturday night at the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex.

The shutout bid by Mount Forest rookie Aidan Quish came to an end with 1:21 to go in the third when Liam Bell scored for Hanover. Assists were awarded to Jorden Reaman and Derek Cornfield.

Klayton Hoelscher, Ryley Cribbin, Blair Butchart and Michael Stefanelli scored a goal apiece for the Patriots. Butchart and Derick Acheson each had two assists while Klayton Hoelscher and Stefanelli had one apiece.

Hanover outshot the Patriots 38-35, but was scoreless on seven power plays while the Patriots went 2-for-9 on their power play.

Quish picked up the win in net for Mount Forest while Chase Krompocker took the loss.

The win was the second consecutive Saturday-night win over Hanover at the Mount Forest arena for the Patriots.

The Patriots are tied for first in the Pollock Division with the Walkerton Hawks. The Patriots are at 16-4-0-0 and Walkerton’s at 15-3-1-1. Hanover fell to 4-15-0-2.

Mount Forest is to play the Mitchell Hawks (10-9-1-1) at Mitchell Friday at 8:30 p.m.
