Plenty of Heights in Falcons’ CWOSSA girls’ hockey pool

FERGUS – The Centre Wellington Falcons have been placed in a pool with the Huron Heights Huskies of Kitchener and Cameron Heights Gaels of Kitchener for the two-day CWOSSA high school AAA girls’ hockey championship tournament at Brantford.

The tournament is to go Monday and Tuesday at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. Monday is set for pool play while the playoff round is to go Tuesday.

The District 10 champion Falcons are to tangle with Waterloo County champion Huron Heights Monday at 8 a.m. and play-in winner Cameron Heights at 2 p.m.

Top two in each pool move on to Tuesday’s playoff round. The other pool consists of the Waterloo County runner-up Elmira Lancers, Brant County champion Brantford CI Mustangs and District 8 champion Resurrection Phoenix of Kitchener.

Tuesday’s semifinals are slated for 9 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. and the championship match is to follow at 2 p.m.

The CWOSSA champion qualifies for the OFSAA provincial high school AAA girls’ hockey championship tournament at Mississauga March 21 to 24.
