Provincial Elite Gryphons drop Woodbridge

WOODBRIDGE – The Guelph Gryphons bounced back from their first loss of the Ontario Women’s Soccer League’s Provincial Elite season with a 6-0 victory over the Woodbridge Strikers.

Tori Hinchliffe led the Gryphs with a hat trick while single goals were added by Nicole Mitchell, Cassie Wheldon and Ann-Carolyn Lang.

With the win the Gryphs improve to 5-1-2 while Woodbridge falls to 1-3-1.

The Gryphs are to host the GS United Ridgebacks (4-3-1) Tuesday at 9 p.m. at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

 

Kitchener and District Soccer League

Men’s Division

The Guelph Gryphons ran their unbeaten streak to three games Wednesday as they battled Banat to a scoreless draw.

After starting the season with five consecutive losses including a DaSilva Cup setback, the Gryphs have two wins and a tie in their last three games.

The tie keeps Banat’s record even at 4-4-1.

The Gryphs (2-4-1 in league play) are to host Listowel United (1-7-0) July 9 at 4 p.m. at the Centennial Bowl.

 

Women’s Division

The Guelph Gryphons Black picked up their first point of the season Wednesday as they battled Stratford CT to a 2-2 standoff at Marden Park.

The Gryphs Black had lost their previous four league games while the tie left Stratford at 2-2-1.

Andrea Boray and Constance Redmond scored for Guelph.

Emily Woodhouse and Jessica Tod responded with a goal apiece for Stratford.

Gryphs Black are to host Rangers FC July 12 at Eastview Park at 9 p.m.
