Quadam/Leslie Howard take Greenhawk Open Welcome

ROCKWOOD — Leslie Howard guided Quadam to victory Friday in the $49,700 Greenhawk Open Welcome at Angelstone Tournaments’ The National event.

Quadam and Howard were one of three horse/rider combinations that advanced to a jump off following a clear round in the regular round. With a time of 37.484 seconds in the jump off, they won by less than a quarter of a second from runner-up Pjotter Van De Zonnehoeve with Molly Ashe-Cawley aboard. They were timed at 37.702 seconds.

Aanwinst, with Jordan MacPherson at the reins, were third at 39.971 seconds. They had been fastest in the initial round.

All three jump-off combatants had clear rounds in the jump off.

A total of 41 horse/rider combinations competed in the event.

Finishing fourth as the fastest of 15 horse/rider combinations that had four faults in the regular round were Count Me In/Beth Underhill. Rounding out the top 10 were Sombrero Brimbells/Erynn Ballard, Corette/Keean White, Quel Cadans Z/Nina Fagerstrom, Prof De La Roque/Andrew Kocher, Bonzay/Jonathon Millar and Casall/Ali Wolff.

The competition was originally scheduled for Thursday, but was postponed a day by a torrential downpour.
