Raso lifts Guelph Oaks to shutout victory

GUELPH – Martino Raso scored all three goals of the game as the Guelph Oaks blanked AC Soccer Diavoli 3-0 in Ontario Soccer League Regional South play Saturday at Centennial Bowl.

Daniel Keir earned the clean sheet.

The win, the third in a row for the Oaks, leaves the Guelph side atop the league with a 3-0-1 record while Diavoli drops to 0-2-0.

The Oaks had earlier dropped Hrvat St. Catharines 7-0.

Keir also had the shutout in that game while Michael Ojkic collected a hat trick. Graeme Gow, Raso, Nathan Howie and Stefano Zicarelli also scored.

The locals are to host Mustang FC (1-0-0) Wednesday at 9 p.m. at Eastview Park.

 

Provincial West

The Guelph Gryphons battled Olimpia Toronto to a 2-2 standoff last Thursday at Eastview Park.

Angelo Luzi and Isaac Bell scored the goals for the locals.

Bartosz Potaczala and Jaroslaw Szczepaniuk responded with a goal apiece for Olimpia.

It was the first point of the season for the Gryphons following a pair of losses while the result left Olimpia at 1-0-3.

The Gryphons are to play Caledon FC (3-0-1) at Caledon Friday at 9 p.m.
