Rocks get on a roll to drop Shallow Lake
ELORA – The Elora Rocks struck for five consecutive goals as they skated to an 8-1 victory over the Shallow Lake Crushers in Western Ontario Athletic Association senior men’s hockey play Friday night at the Elora and District Community Centre.
The win was Elora’s third in four games.
The Rocks scored three times in the opening period before Shallow Lake scored its lone goal with 54 seconds to go in the period. The Rocks responded with four goals in the second and one in the third to complete the scoring.
Brett Coverdale rifled in two of Elora’s goals while Santino Di Florio, Graham Kitching, Kevin Tuckey, Corey Flemington, Brock West and Chad Herron scored once apiece.
Josh Bumstead had the goal for Shallow Lake.
The win leaves the Rocks in a four-way tie for seventh at 6-7-1-0. They’re tied with the Tavistock Royals (6-2-1-0), Durham Thundercats (6-4-1-0) and Huron East Centenaires (6-6-1-0). Shallow Lake is 12th at 3-13-0-0.
The Rocks are to play Durham Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Durham and District Community Centre.
