Ross field hockey girls on top of league

SHELBURNE – The Ross Royals shot to the top of the District 4/10 high schools girls’ field hockey league’s standings Friday with a pair of shutout wins at Centre Dufferin.

Ross blanked the Orangeville Bears 3-0 and the Centre Dufferin Royals 6-0.

Sarah Taylor, Abby Auger and Courtney Phillips had a goal apiece in the win over Orangeville.

Phillips scored twice against Centre Dufferin while Olivia Sarabura, Hailey Coltson, Brooke Frasson and Kaleigh Boyd added single goals.

Ross leads the league with a 6-0-0 record and they’re followed by the Guelph CVI Green Gaels at 5-0-1, Bishop Macdonell Celtics at 3-1-2 and Orangeville at 3-2-1. Centre Dufferin is seventh at 1-3-2.

There’s one day of play left in the league’s regular season as all teams are to gather at the University of Guelph’s Varsity Field Wednesday.

The final day is to kick off with Ross and GCVI meeting at 8:15 a.m.

Maeva Baldarassa and Megan Rooke connected for a goal apiece for Orangeville while Emily Hart picked up the shutout.
