Ross, GCVI advance to field hockey final rematch
GUELPH – The Ross Royals and Guelph CVI Green Gaels will meet Monday to decide the District 4/10 girls’ field hockey championship for the second consecutive year.
That was decided Wednesday when both were triumphant in the league’s semifinals at the University of Guelph’s Varsity Field.
The Royals dropped the Orangeville Bears 8-0 and the Gaels downed the Bishop Macdonell Celtics 4-0.
Ross won last year’s final 2-0 over GCVI.
This year’s final is set for Monday at 4 p.m. at Varsity Field.
Ross will be looking for its second consecutive win and ninth overall while the Gaels will be looking for their first ever girls’ field hockey title.

Sarah Taylor had a hat trick for Ross while Kaleigh Boyd and Olivia Sarabura scored twice each. Katelyn Fazzari added the other goal while Mackenzie Mollison and Jordan Ronan shared the shutout.
Guelph CVI 4 Bishop Macdonell 0
Lorraine Vandermyden had a pair of goals for GCVI while Sara Farquharson and Jasmine Hasmatali also scored. Lou Meloche picked up the shutout.
