Ross, GCVI out of CWOSSA field hockey tournament

KITCHENER — The two District 10 teams in the CWOSSA girls’ field hockey championship tournament were ousted following pool play Wednesday at Woodside Park.

The D10 champion Ross Royals were defeated 2-0 by the Cameron Heights Gaels of Kitchener and 3-1 by the Southwood Sabres of Cambridge.

The D10 finalist Guelph CVI Green Gaels suffered a pair of 5-0 losses as they were beaten by the Bluevale Knights of Waterloo and the Resurrection Phoenix of Kitchener.

Bluevale won the Waterloo County title while Cameron Heights was second and Southwood third. Resurrection captured the D8 crown.

Thursday morning’s semifinals feature Resurrection against Cameron Heights and Southwood against Bluevale.

Semifinal winners advance to the gold-medal game Thursday at 1 p.m.
