Ross into semifinals at CWOSSA AAA girls’ tourney

KITCHENER – The Ross Royals have advanced to the semifinals at the CWOSSA AAA high school girls’ soccer championship tournament at Woodside Park following a win and a loss in pool play Wednesday.

The Royals rebounded from an opening-game 1-0 loss to the Grand River Renegades of Kitchener with a 10-0 thrashing of the Owen Sound Wolves.

Kayla Ambrose scored the lone goal for Grand River in the win over Ross.

Goal scorers for Ross in the win over Owen Sound included Eliza Cazzola and Ashton DalBello with two apiece and Maresa Bell, McKenzie Coole, Jasmine Fox, Abbi Morell and Avery Young with one each.

Grand River finished first in the pool with a 2-0-0 record as the Renegades also beat Owen Sound 10-0.

Waterloo CI Vikings were first in the other pool at 2-0-0 while St. Mary’s Eagles of Kitchener were second at 1-1-0 and Assumption Lions of Brantford third at 0-2-0.

Ross is to play Waterloo CI Thursday at 11 a.m. in the semifinals. The other semifinal pits Grand River against St. Mary’s.

Winners advance to the CWOSSA championship match at 2:30 p.m.
