Ross Royals back in tie atop senior rugby loop

GUELPH – The Ross Royals moved into a tie for top spot in the District 4/10 high school senior boys’ rugby league standings as they slipped by the Erin Raiders 10-7 Tuesday at Varsity Field.

Matt Duff scored both tries for Ross.

Connor Bennet had a try and Justin McLaughlin kicked a convert for Erin.

Ross and the Guelph CVI Green Gaels are both at 2-0-0 while Erin falls to 0-2-0. The Centennial Spartans and Centre Dufferin Royals are both at 0-1-0.

 

Junior

Ross 83 Erin 5

Ross picked up its fist win of the season while it was the second loss for Erin.

Mitchell Penner hit for three tries and three converts for Ross while Bradley McLeod scored four tries. Noah Van Dam had two tries and a convert while Cameron House and Adam Best each scored two tries and Ahmed Al-Hayali and Codi Smith each had one try.

Skylar Mawle had a try for Erin.

 

Girls

Guelph CVI 31 Wellington Heights 7

Leksi Dawes connected for a pair of tries for GCVI while Hanna Gordon kicked thee converts. Adding one try apiece were Kiara Allcock, Maya James and Mandeep Jawanda.

Dannika Bauman scored the try for Wellington Heights while Kyla Pacheco booted the convert.

 

Centre Wellington 37 Erin 7

Emma Nankivell, Serena Baker, Ariana Hassenbach, Dakota Denny, Heather Vink, Maddy Bender and Blaire Baumann each scored a try for Centre Wellington.

Jordyn Mooy had the try for Erin.
