Ross Royals climb to top of D4/10 field hockey standings
GUELPH — The Ross Royals grabbed sole possession of first place in the District 4/10 high school girls’ field hockey league’s standings Wednesday with a pair of shutout victories in play at the University of Guelph’s Varsity Field.
The Royals blanked the Wellington Heights Wolverines 6-0 and Centre Dufferin Royals 7-0.
The wins give Ross four shutout victories in as many outings. They’re a point up on the Guelph CVI Green Gaels (3-0-1).
Natassja DeZwaan scored twice against Wellington Heights while single goals were added by Sarah Taylor, Mackenzie Dixon, Kaleigh Boyd and Olivia Sarabura.
Taylor and Boyd connected for two goals apiece against Centre Dufferin while Katelyn Fazzari, Rosie Blower and Kiersten Bell scored the other goals.
Jordan Ronan and Mackenzie Mollison shared the shutouts.

Mackenna Wilker had two goals for Centennial while Erika Gilbert added a single goal.
Centre Dufferin 6 Wellington Heights 2
Morgan Bennington hit for four goals for Centre Dufferin while single goals were netted by Cate Callegari and Lexi Fawcett.
Larissa Lamont and Charlie Becker scored for Wellington Heights.
Guelph CVI 5 Orangeville 0
Jordyn Farquharson had a hat trick for GCVI while Lorraine Vandermyden tallied twice. Lou Meloche was credited with the shutout.
Centre Wellington 4 Orangeville 0
Jenny Herbert had the shutout for Centre Wellington while the goal scorers were unavailable.
Centre Wellington 1 Guelph CVI 1
Sophia Battaglia scored for Centre Wellington while Lorraine Vandermyden responded with the goal for GCVI.
