Ross Royals start field hockey campaign with shutout wins
GUELPH — The Ross Royals opened their District 4/10 high school girls’ field hockey season with a pair of shutout wins at home Wednesday as they defeated the Norwell Redmen of Palmerston 5-0 and the Orangeville Bears 4-0.
Five players scored in the win over Norwell as Ross received goals from Sarah Taylor, Elena Campbell, Natassja DezWaan, Kiersten Bell and Kaileigh Boyd.
Boyd had a pair of goals against Orangeville while Olivia Sarabura also scored.
Mackenzie Mollison and Jordan Ronan split time in net to share both shutouts.
Centre Wellington 5 Centre Dufferin 0
Sophia Battaglia and Jenny Herbert scored twice apiece for Centre Wellington. The shutout went to Heather Vink.
Norwell 1 Orangeville 1
Brookelyn Butchart had the goal for Norwell while Megan Rook responded for Orangeville.
Centre Dufferin 0 Centennial 0
Sarah Dykstra was credited with the shutout for Centennial.
Centennial 1 Centre Wellington 1
Erika Gilbert had the goal for Centennial while Kenna Winget replied for Centre Wellington.
