Ross second seeds for OFSAA AAA girls’ rugby tourney

GUELPH – The CWOSSA champion Ross Royals have been seeded second for next week’s provincial high school OFSAA AAA girls’ rugby championship tournament at Mississauga.

The defending champion Oakville Trafalgar Red Devils are seeded first while the Uxbridge Tigers are seeded third.

Ross won the AAA title in 2016 when the tournament was held in Ottawa and Oakville Trafalgar won it when it was last held in Mississauga in 2015 when it was a AAAA/AAA tournament and also in 2012.

Other teams in this year’s tournament, in order of seeding, are the Mayfield Mavericks of Caledon, Glebe Gryphons of Ottawa, St. Roch Ravens of Brampton, Arnprior Rapids, Blessed Cardinal Newman Knights of Scarborough, Thomas A. Stewart Griffins of Peterborough, Bear Creek Kodiaks of Barrie, Lakeshore Catholic Gators of Port Colborne, Stouffville Spartans, Medway Cowboys of Arva, David and Mary Thomson Titans of Scarborough, Georgetown Rebels and Sarnia Northern Vikings.

Ross is to play Georgetown Monday at 1 p.m. at Mississauga’s St. Francis Xavier Secondary School.
