Senior hoops loop’s chasing pack tightens up

GUELPH — The three teams battling for third in the District 10 high school senior boys’ basketball league all scored wins in league play Tuesday.

They also closed in on the second-placed St. James Lions who suffered a 67-58 loss to the league-leading Centre Wellington Falcons. Centre Wellington clinched a first-place finish with that victory.

Centennial Spartans, Ross Royals and Guelph CVI Green Gaels posted wins as the Spartans defeated Bishop Macdonell Celtics 62-41, Royals downed Orangeville Bears 68-54 and the Gaels dropped Lourdes Crusaders 70-61.

The results leave Centre Wellington in first at 11-0 and the Falcons are followed by St. James at 8-3, Centennial 7-3, Ross 7-4, GCVI 6-5, Lourdes 3-8, Orangeville 1-9 and Bishop Mac 0-11.
