Shell’s hat trick lifts Gryphon hockey women to preseason win

SEAFORTH, Ont. – The Guelph Gryphons received a hat trick from Karli Shell as they tripled the Laurier Golden Hawks 6-2 in OUA women’s hockey preseason play Friday night at the Seaforth and District Community Centre.

Kaitlin Lowy added a pair of goals for the Gryphs while Stephanie Gava also scored and Claire Merrick collected five assists.

Emily Woodhouse scored both goals for Laurier.

The win was the second in six preseason games for the Gryphs who are to complete their preseason with a game against the Waterloo Warriors Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre.

The Gryphs and Laurier are to clash again to open the regular season Oct. 19 at Waterloo.
