Silver Sunday for Regals in Chuck Miller tournament
GUELPH – It was a silver Sunday for the Guelph Regals at their own Chuck Miller Invitational minor lacrosse tournament as all three of their teams that made division finals at the West End arena settled for silver.
The Regals were defeated 12-3 by Wallaceburg in the tyke final, 5-2 by Peterborough Two in the novice final and 6-1 by Cambridge in the midget final.
In the two finals that didn’t involve a Guelph squad, Whitby Three won the peewee title with a 6-4 victory over Milton and Kingston claimed the bantam crown with an 8-4 victory over Six Nations Three.
In the tyke final, Wallaceburg led 4-1 at the end of the first period and 7-3 after the second.
Peterborough Two’s second period was the difference in the novice final as the teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the first before Peterborough pulled away to a 5-1 lead by the end of the second.
In the midget final, Cambridge extended a 2-1 lead at the end of the first period to a 5-1 advantage by the end of the second.
The tournament was for teams ranked C or D.
Tyke final: Wallaceburg 12 Guelph 3
Novice final: Peterborough Two 5 Guelph 2
Peewee final: Whitby Three 6 Milton 4
Bantam final: Kingston 8 Six Nations Three 4
Midget final: Cambridge 6 Guelph 1
