Silvercreeks out of junior elimination tourney

OSHAWA – The Guelph Silvercreeks were knocked out of Baseball Ontario’s junior elimination tournament Saturday when they were edged 10-8 by the St. Thomas Tomcats at Oshawa’s Ritson Sports Fields.

The Creeks left the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The loss was the second for the Creeks in as many games in the double knockout provincial championship tournament.

Ten of the original 22 teams remain in the tournament following Saturday’s games. They are the Tomcats (they edged the North York Blues 8-6 later in the day), Hamilton Junior Cardinals, Royal York Cardinals, Mississauga North Tigers, Oshawa Legionaires, Brampton Royals, Newmarket Hawks, Burlington Bulls, Oakville Athletics and Windsor Selects.

The tournament is to conclude with the championship game Monday afternoon.
