Six Junior Gryphons picked in OHL draft

GUELPH – A total of six players from the Guelph Junior Gryphons minor midget AAA team were picked in Saturday’s Ontario Hockey League draft.

And all were picked by different teams.

Selected were forward Ty Anselmini by the London Knights in the third round, goalie Dixon Grimes by the Guelph Storm in the ninth round, forward Dylan Richardson by the Hamilton Bulldogs in the 11th round, defenceman Ryan Cook by the Barrie Colts in the 12th round, forward Mark McIntosh by the Kitchener Rangers in the 13th round and forward Dylan Hudon by the Owen Sound Attack in the 15th round.

Anselmini was selected 47th overall. The 15-year-old from Guelph won the scoring race in the SCTA minor midget league as the 5-foot-9, 170-pound Anselmini had 22 goals and 29 assists in 31 games this season.

Grimes was the lone goaltender selected by the Storm. The 6-foot-3, 208-pound 16-year-old Belleville native had a 3.22 goals-against average in 14 games.

The 16-year-old Richardson stands 6-foot-5 and weighs 190 pounds. He’s from Arthur and he had 11 goals and 24 assists in 30 games.

Cook’s 15, 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds and he had three goals and nine assists in 31 games.

The 5-foot-10, 175-pound McIntosh is from Elora. A 15-year-old, he had 21 goals and 25 assists in 31 games.

The 15-year-old Hudon had nine goals and seven assists in 31 games. He’s 5-foot-7 and 150 pounds.
