Snowstorm pushes Gryphon rugby women’s match to Sunday
LETHBRIDGE, Alta. – The Guelph Gryphons has their consolation semifinal against the Lethbridge Pronghorns at the U Sports national women’s rugby championship tournament postponed Friday due to poor weather conditions.
Lethbridge has been hit by a snowstorm and there was just too much snow to remove from the field to make it playable. Thursday’s quarter-finals were all held during the early stages of the snowstorm and it left the field icy and snow-covered.
All of Friday’s games were postponed.
The championship semifinals are to go Saturday with Calgary playing Ottawa at 2 p.m. and Laval playing St. Francis Xavier at 4 p.m.
The other consolation semifinal between Queen’s and Acadia is to be played Saturday at 6 p.m.
There will not be a consolation final.
The bronze-medal match is slated for Sunday at 3 p.m. and is to be followed by the gold-medal game at 5 p.m.
