St. James in CWOSSA A/AA boys’ hockey tournament

CAMBRIDGE – The St. James Lions qualified for next week’s CWOSSA A/AA boys’ hockey championship tournament with a 7-2 win over the Galt Ghosts in a qualifier game.

Colton Coffin and Andrew Paoli scored twice each for the Lions while Jack Burke, Daniel Pulcina and Nick Brake added single goals. Brake and Reid Martin each had two assists while Connor Dick, Cameron Bulmer, Paoli, Pulcina, Owen Puckett, Matthew Zen and Coffin had one apiece.

The Lions join the Erin Raiders at the tournament Monday and Tuesday at Owen Sound as Erin had qualified as the highest-ranked A/AA team in the D4/10 league.

St. James will be in a pool with the Holy Trinity Titans of Simcoe, St. David Celtics of Waterloo and Grey Highlands Lions of Flesherton while Erin will be in a pool with the St. Mary’s Mustangs of Owen Sound, Delhi Raiders and Paris Panthers.

In pool play Monday, St. James is to play Grey Highlands at 7:45 a.m., St. David at 12:45 p.m. and Holy Trinity at 2 p.m. while Erin is to play St. Mary’s at 9:30 a.m., Paris at 2 p.m. and Delhi at 5:30 p.m.

Top two in each pool advance to the semifinals that are set for Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. while the championship match is to go Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

All games are to be played at the Julie McArthur Arena.
