Storm to open 2018-19 season at home Sept. 22

GUELPH – The Guelph Storm is to start its 2017-18 Ontario Hockey League campaign at home.

The Storm is to open its next regular season with a game against the Sarnia Sting Sept. 22 at the Sleeman Centre.

That game will be the first of 68 for the Storm.

First road game is set for two days after the opener as they’re to play the recently crowned Memorial Cup champion Windsor Spitfires Sept. 24 at Windsor.

Other games against the Spitfires are scheduled for Oct. 6 and Jan. 19 at the Sleeman Centre and Feb. 8 at Windsor.

The Storm has its usual eight games against its closest rival, the Kitchener Rangers. The Storm and Rangers are to battle at the Sleeman Centre Oct. 7, Dec. 10, March 4 and March 13. They’re to play at Kitchener’s Memorial Auditorium Nov. 3, Nov. 17, Jan. 21 and March 16.

The London Knights and Storm are to play six times during the regular season: Oct. 29, Nov. 26 and Feb. 11 at the Sleeman Centre and Nov. 16, Jan. 28 and March 7 at London.

Seven times during the season the Storm has three games scheduled on three consecutive days.

The three-in-threes start Oct. 20 to 22 when the Storm’s to play the Hamilton Bulldogs at the Sleeman Centre Oct. 20, the Saginaw Spirit at Saginaw Oct. 21 and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds at Sault Ste. Marie Oct. 22.

They’re to play the Erie Otters at the Sleeman Centre Oct. 27 and at Erie Oct. 28 and host London at the Sleeman Centre Oct. 29.

The other three-in-threes are Nov. 24 to 26 (host Barrie, at Owen Sound, home to London), Dec. 15 to 17 to complete pre-Christmas portion of schedule (home to Kingston, home to Sault Ste. Marie, at Oshawa), Jan. 26 to 28 (home to Flint, at Owen Sound, at London), Feb. 23 to 25 (home to Owen Sound, at Barrie, home to Mississauga) and March 2 to 4 (home to Flint, at Owen Sound, home to Kitchener).

Friday is the primary home night for the Storm as 20 of their 34 home games are to be played on Fridays. They have nine Sunday home games, two on a Saturday and one each on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

As for game times, all Friday games are to start at 7:30 p.m. Six of the Sunday games are to start at 2 p.m., two at 4 p.m. and one at 6 p.m. Both Saturday games carry 4 p.m. starting times while the Monday game is a 2 p.m. contest and the Tuesday and Thursday games are the 7 p.m. games.
