Top two build on their lead in girls’ hockey league

GUELPH – The top two teams in the District 10 high school girls’ hockey league kept pace with one another Thursday as both the Centre Wellington Falcons and Ross Royals posted wins.

Centre Wellington defeated the Lourdes Crusaders 5-1 at the West End arena while Ross blanked the Guelph CVI Green Gaels 7-0 at Exhibition arena.

Scoring details were not reported from either game.

The results leave the Falcons atop the seven-team league at 6-1-3, one points ahead of the Royals who’re at 6-1-2. Centennial Spartans are third at 3-2-5 while Lourdes and the St. James Lions have identical 3-3-3 records. GCVI’s at 2-5-2 and the Bishop Macdonell Celtics are at 0-8-2.

League play is to resume Jan. 9 with Bishop Mac playing Centre Wellington at Fergus.
