Trio of Regals into Ontario Lacrosse Festival semifinals

WHITBY – Three Guelph Regals squads are into the semifinals in their respective classes in the Ontario Lacrosse Association’s peewee and bantam championships at the Ontario Lacrosse Festival following Saturday games.

The Regals One are to play Oshawa One Sunday at 12:30 p.m. in the STX bantam B semifinals following a 7-5 victory over Caledon One in Saturday’s quarter-finals. The Guelph side had recorded two wins and a loss in pool play as the locals rebounded from an 8-4 loss to Hamilton One with a 5-3 victory over Windsor One and a 9-3 triumph over Oakville Two.

The Regals Two will be in the bantam E semifinals after going 3-1-0 in pool play. Guelph is to play Hamilton Two in the semifinals. In pool play, the Regals lost 7-5 to Hamilton Two before beating Markham One 11-1, Nepean Three 3-2 and Mimico Two 8-4.

Guelph will also have a team in the Harrow peewee C semifinals as Guelph Two defeated Brampton Two 6-4 in the quarter-finals. The Regals Two are to play Hamilton One in the semifinals. In pool play, the Regals lost 6-2 to Nepean Two and defeated Clarington Two 9-5 and Oakville Two 4-2.

A 10-0 loss to Oshawa Two in the quarter-finals put the Regals Three out of peewee D. Guelph had split its pool play games, beating Kitchener Two 4-2, tying West Durham One 7-7 and losing 7-5 to Milton Two.

Centre Wellington Mohawks Two were ousted from the peewee D quarter-finals when they were beaten 5-2 by Kawartha Lakes One. It was the first loss of the tournament for the Mohawks who had won all three of their pool play games, downing Midland One 4-2, Whitby Four 5-2 and Orangeville Two 9-1.

Centre Wellington Two was knocked out of the bantam D playoffs with a 4-2 loss to Burlington Two in the quarter-finals. In pool play, the Mohawks doubled Stayner One 4-2, edged Midland One 4-3 and lost 3-2 to Gloucester Two.

Arthur Aces One are to play Halton Hills Two Sunday morning in the peewee E semifinals after they edged New Tecumseth One 5-4 in the quarter-finals. Arthur had two wins and two losses in pool play as the Aces defeated North Perth One 7-1 and 5-3 after falling 6-1 and 6-2 to Markham One.

The Aces Two are to play Hamilton Two Sunday in the bantam E semifinals after posting two wins and a loss in pool play. Arthur defeated Niagara Two 6-2 and Oakville Three 10-3 after suffering a 5-2 loss to North Perth One.

Arthur One was ousted from the tournament following three losses in bantam B pool play. The Aces were defeated 5-1 by Niagara One, 8-3 by Six Nations One and 5-3 by Orillia One.
