Varsity Reds hockey girls stretch their lead

PALMERSTON – The Norwell Varsity Reds extended their lead atop the District 4 high school girls’ hockey league with a 3-1 victory over the Wellington Heights Wolverines Tuesday at the Palmerston arena.

Scoring details were not reported.

The Varsity Reds lead the five-team league with an 8-0-1 record. They’re followed by the Erin Raiders at 3-5-1, Wellington Heights and Westside Thunder with identical 3-3-0 marks and Centre Dufferin Royals at 0-6-0.

The game was the final game of the 2017 portion of the league’s schedule.

League play is to resume Jan. 11 at the Shelburne arena when Norwell, Wellington Heights, Westside and Centre Dufferin gather to play three games apiece during the January’s regular-season mini tournament.
