Westside collects first win in D4/10 baseball

ORANGEVILLE – The Westside Thunder of Orangeville scored their first victory in District 4/10 high school baseball play Tuesday.

The Thunder’s first ever win in the league was an 11-6 victory over the Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne at Orangeville’s Princess of Wales Park on the diamond both teams use as their home diamond.

Game details were not reported.

The Thunder are in their first season in the league.

The result leaves both the Thunder and Centre Dufferin at 1-4-0.

The league is to complete its regular season with a busy week. Four games were played Tuesday with four more to be played Wednesday and four more Thursday. The busy week was created following postponements last week due to rain and poor field conditions.

 

Ross 14 Bishop Macdonell 6

Ross remained unbeaten with the win while Bishop Mac fell to 2-3-0.

Jackson Wahl was the winning pitcher as he had eight strikeouts and yielded three earned runs in four innings. He also went 3-for-3 with a double at the plate while Elijah Wood went 2-for-3 and Ethan Vivian went 3-for-4 and he drove in three runs.

Lucas Wells had three strikeouts in three innings for Bishop Mac, but he yielded two earned runs. Clark Williams didn’t allow any earned runs in his stint and he had a strikeout. At the plate, Jacob McWhirter hit a triple and a double while Kyle Fraser went 1-for-2 and he scored two runs.

 

Guelph CVI 8 St. James 7

GCVI improved to 3-1-1 with the win.

Noah Neumann scored two runs for GCVI while Aidan Cvetich finished with four RBIs.

Bryan Richardson had two runs for St. James.
