Wickens finishes fourth in Moscow’s first race

MOSCOW – Robert Wickens of Guelph claimed a fourth-place finish in the first of two DTM series races at Moscow Raceway Saturday.

Wickens completed the 38-lap race in his Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM in 57:56.183 to finish just over six seconds behind the winner, René Rast of Germany in an Audi RS5 DTM.

Mike Rockenfeller of Germany was second in his Audi RS5 DTM in 57:50.855 while Marco Wittmann made it a German sweep of the podium as he was third in his BMW M4 DTM in 57:53.984.

Wickens had qualified 12th for the race while the top three qualifiers, in order, were Wittmann, Rast and Rockenfeller.

Wickens has qualified 11th for the second race Sunday.

Wickens is 10th in the series standings with 56 points. Rast leads at 99 while Lucas Auer of Mercedes is second at 95 and Audi’s Mattias Ekstrom third at 93.
