Win moves field hockey Gryphs to second

TORONTO – The Guelph Gryphons scored once in each half for a 2-0 victory over the Western Mustangs in OUA women’s field hockey play Sunday at the University of Toronto’s Back Campus Field.

Danielle Crumpton scored in the 32nd minute and Rudi Ballard added the other goal in the 57th minute.

Morgan Kelley and Amanda Hodgert shared the shutout for Guelph as each played one half in the game.

The win vaulted the Gryphs to second in the seven-team league at 3-1-2. They’re a point ahead of third-place Western (3-3-1). The York Lions lead with seven wins in seven outings.

The game also completed the first half of the regular season for the Gryphs. They’re to play the Waterloo Warriors (1-4-1) at Waterloo Friday at 5:45 p.m.
