Westside Thunder locks down first-place finish

GUELPH – The Westside Thunder grabbed a first-place finish in the District 4 high school girls’ soccer league’s final standings with a 3-0 victory over the Emmanuel Christian Eagles Friday at the Gryphon Soccer Complex.

The game was the league’s final regular-season match of the season.

Sara Reynolds, Reagan Gregg and Reagan Scott connected for a goal apiece for Westside.

The Thunder finished first by winning all four of their regular-season games. They led the league with 24 goals scored and one allowed.

The Eagles finished as runners-up at 3-1-0 and they were followed by the Norwell Varsity Reds at 2-2-0, Centre Dufferin Royals at 1-3-0 and Wellington Heights Wolverines at 0-4-0.

The semifinals are slated for Tuesday with Westside hosting Centre Dufferin at 3 p.m. and Emmanuel Christian and Norwell playing at Victoria Park in Fergus at 2 p.m.
