Mount Forest Patriots whitewash Walkerton

WALKERTON – Mason Kameka stopped 13 shots to pick up the shutout as the Mount Forest Patriots blanked the Walkerton Hawks 7-0 in Provincial Junior Hockey League play Friday night at the Walkerton Community Centre.

The Patriots took 38 shots in the game and they held Walkerton to a single shot in the third period.

Dawson Bolger and Troy Weber  each scored twice for the Patriots while single goals were netted by Ryley Cribbin, Luke Eurig and Michael Anselmini. Eurig had three assists while Hayden Coulter picked up two and Bolger, Jack Birkett and Riley Torrie had one apiece.

Cam Plante had 31 saves in the Walkerton net while the Patriots went 1-for-5 on the power play and killed off three penalties. Mount Forest also scored two shorthanded goals.

The win was the fifth in a row for the Patriots and it leaves them at 5-1-0-0.

The Patriots are to host the Wingham Ironmen (7-0-0-0) Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Mount Forest and District Community Centre. Game time is 8 p.m.
