81’s score first, but they’re downed by Shelburne

SHELBURNE – The Minto 81’s opened the scoring in their WOAA senior men’s hockey league game at the Centre Dufferin arena Saturday, but the host Shelburne Muskies responded for a 5-1 victory.

After a scoreless first period, Jordan Delaurier connected for Minto about three minutes into the second. Tommy Hoogaars and Wade Pfeffer assisted on the goal.

However, Shelburne scored four times later in the period and added a final goal in the third.

Ty McCallum, Ryan Hunter, Brandon Richardson, Luke Richardson and Chris Greer scored for the Muskies.

Marc Williams was in net for Minto while Ryan Mantle picked up the win for Shelburne.

The loss was the third in three outings for Minto this season while the win was the fourth in as many outings for Shelburne.

The 81’s and Elora Rocks are to tangle Friday at the Elora and District Community Centre. Game time is 8:30 p.m.
