
Another eight-goal outing for Erin Blitz
ERIN – The Erin Blitz turned in an eight-goal performance for the second time in two days as they completed their inaugural WOSHL regular season with an 8-3 victory over the Delhi Flames Sunday afternoon at the Centre 2000 arena.
The Blitz never trailed in the match that came less than 24 hours after the Blitz dropped the Alvinston Killer Bees 8-2 there Saturday night.

The Blitz led Delhi 2-0 after the first period and 5-2 after the second period.
Lucas Schott had a hat trick for the Blitz while Sean Caruso had a pair of goals and Liam Galton, Jacob Coulson and Jacob Miller each had one goal. Beni Berisha had three assists while Schott and Hayden Ireland had two apiece. Getting single assists were Maxwell Lightfoot, Liam Silva, Jordan Tutt, Coulson, Brad Humberstone and Jeff White.
Chris Donnelly, Brady Vanymeren and Jack Gee scored once apiece for Delhi, the lone team not to qualify for the playoffs in the nine-team league. Clay Donnelly, Colin Delaet, Mike Stolar, Chris Donnelly, Wade Metz and Jamie Damisinari each had one assist.
The Blitz doubled the Flames 32-16 in shots on net, holding the Flames to less than 10 shots in each period. While neither team managed a power-play goal, they both had a shorthanded tally. Erin had five power plays while Delhi had two.
Jacob Tugnutt had 13 saves for the Blitz while Kodie Oudevshaar had 24 for the Flames.
The expansion Tilbury Bluebirds finished the regular season in first place at 19-4-0-1 while the defending champion Elora Rocks were second at 18-4-0-2. They were followed by the Stratford Fighting Irish in third at 18-6-0-0, Tillsonburg Thunder in fourth at 17-7-0-0, Strathroy Jets in fifth at 13-11-0-0, Erin in sixth at 9-13-0-2, Alvinston in seventh at 6-17-0-1, Plattsville Lakers in eighth at 6-17-0-1 (Alvinston won the tiebreaker) and Delhi in ninth at 2-21-0-1.
The Blitz are to start their quarter-final series with the Fighting Irish at Stratford Saturday at 4 p.m. at Stratford while Elora is to start its series with Alvinston Friday at 8:30 p.m. at Elora.
The other two series feature Tilbury and Plattsville starting Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Tilbury and Tillsonburg and Strathroy starting Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Strathroy.
All quarter-final series are best-of-five affairs.
