
Another shutout for Gryphon women’s hockey’s Fedel
GUELPH – Martina Fedel recorded her third shutout of 2023 as the Guelph Gryphons blanked the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks 2-0 in OUA women’s hockey play Saturday at the Gryphon Centre.
Fedel had 11 saves to get her fifth shutout of the season.

The Gryphs scored single goals in the first and third periods for the victory.
Tori Verbeek and Meaghan Chittick had a goal apiece while assists went to Sydnie Miller, Jaime Magoffin and Abby Davies.
Ontario Tech was scoreless on three power plays while the Gryphs were scoreless on four.
The Gryphs had 32 shots on net and Ontario Tech’s Brooke Vial stopped 30 of them.
With three games to go in their regular season, the Gryphs have clinched a playoff berth and will finish anywhere in the top three in the West Division. Top four qualify for the playoffs.
Waterloo Warriors lead the division at 19-5-0-0 while the Gryphs are second at 15-4-3-2 and the Windsor Lancers are third at 14-9-1-0. Western Mustangs are fourth at 8-12-3-1 and Brock Badgers are fifth at 9-11-3-1. Laurier Golden Hawks are sixth at 3-14-3-2 and are on the brink of elimination from the playoff race.
Ontario Tech is fifth in the East Division at 8-14-1-0, but can finish anywhere from third to sixth in the division.
The Gryphs have three games left on their regular-season schedule. They’re to host the York Lions (sixth in the East at 7-16-0-0) Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Gryphon Centre.
They also have a home-and-home series with Laurier as they’re to play their combined She’s Got Game game and Senior Night game Feb. 15 at the Gryphon Centre at 7:30 p.m. and at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex Feb. 17 at 7 p.m.
