Another whitewash win over Pacers for Mohawks

POINT EDWARD – The Elora Mohawks scored another one-sided victory over the Point Edward Pacers to claim a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League Western Conference quarter-final Sunday at the Point Edward Arena.

The Mohawks scored the first 11 goals of the match before Point Edward scored its lone goal in an 18-1 victory.

Elora led 4-0 at the end of the first period and 14-1 after the second.

Jayden Bushey struck for six goals for the Mohawks while Jabe Verbeek had a hat trick. Sam Dramnitzke, Brett Harrison and Matt Allen each scored twice while Ethen Wellings, Nich Aitchison and Owen Williams also scored. Dramnitzke had seven assists while Tobias Wilson and Harrison had four apiece, Bushey, Ethan Broderick, Wellings, Mark McIntosh and Allen each had two and Jabe Verbeek, Jacob Hayne, Kyle Detweiler and Trae Verbeek each had one.

Ryan Lumley scored Point Edward’s goal.

Elora outshot Point Edward 68-35 and went 5-for-10 on its power play while the Pacers were scoreless on five power plays.

Both Cecil Jacobs and Natham Whittom saw time in net for Elora. Jacobs picked up the win with eight saves while Whittom made 26 saves.

Jacob Ferreira and Aidan Foster split the goaltending chores for Point Edward. Ferreira had 26 saves, two more than Foster.

Third game is set for Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Elora Community Centre.
