Arms, Philthys collect one-sided victories

GUELPH — In league play Sunday at the Larry Pearson Baseball Complex, the Arms dropped the Athletics 14-0, Philthys defeated the Blues by an identical 14-0 score, the BrewJays downed the Outlaws 10-2 and the Mariners and Brewers fought to an 8-8 standoff.

The BrewJays lead the league at 5-0-0 and are followed by the Outlaws and Arms at 4-1-0, Blues at 3-2-0, Brewers at 1-3-1, Philthys at 1-3-0, Mariners at 0-4-1 and Athletics at 0-4-0.

 

Arms 14 Athletics 0
The Arms scored four runs in each of the first two innings to head to the win.
Trevor Hern had four hits including a homer and he drove in four runs for the winners while Daryn Blacklock and Jamie Coleman each had three hits.
Philthys 14 Blues 0
Philthys scored seven runs in the first inning to grab control early.
The Blues were limited to three hits — a double and single by Marc Sgrignoli and a single by Mitch Goodfellow
BrewJays 10 Outlaws 2
BrewJays claimed the win with five runs in the third and four in the fifth.
Nathan Loder led the 10-hit attack for the BrewJays with three singles while Aaron Loder hit two singles.
Liam Rivard and Patrick Clouthier shared the pitching chores for the winners. They combined to hold the Outlaws to two earned runs off five hits and four walks. They struck out seven.
Mariners 8 Brewers 8
The Brewers scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh for the tie.
Phil Warner and Ryan Laplaunte hit homers for the Mariners. Laplaunte also hit a double and a single while Warner also smacked a single. Shaun Poirier hit two singles.
Rick MacLeod and Poirier pitched for the Mariners. They yielded seven earned runs off 12 hits and a walk. They totalled five strikeouts.
