Baseball Crusaders top defending champs to grab share of first

GUELPH – The Lourdes Crusaders moved into a first-place tie with the Ross Royals in the District 10 high school baseball league following a win Thursday at Hastings Stadium.

The Crusaders defeated the defending champion Guelph CVI Green Gaels 5-1 for their second win in as many league outings, same as Ross.

Details of Thursday’s games were not reported.

St. James Lions are third in the standings at 1-0-1 while the Centre Dufferin Royals of Shelburne and GCVI are both at 1-1-0. Centennial Spartans are at 0-1-1 and Bishop Macdonell Celtics and Westside Thunder of Orangeville are both at 0-2-0.

League play resumes Monday.
