
Baseball Gryphons win OUA bronze-medal game
KITCHENER – The Guelph Gryphons completed their OUA baseball season as bronze medalists.
The Gryphs dropped the Waterloo Warriors 16-11 in the bronze-medal game Saturday at Jack Couch Park.
The locals turned on the power in the game as they clobbered 18 hits including home runs by Braedon Walsh, Arthur Kowara and Sam Brown.
Walsh went 4-for-6 in the match while Kowara, Owen Ellis and Jaylen Wood were each 3-for-4 and Ashton Patterson was 2-for-5. Walsh drove in four runs while Kowara, Ellis and Patterson each knocked in two runs.
Ryan Cooper pitched four innings for the Gryphs, giving up two earned runs. The Gryphs used five pitchers in the game.
The Gryphs finished the season with an overall record of 27-3. They were 16-2 in conference play and 19-1 at home.
They also had win streaks of eight games and 11 games.
The Queen’s Gaels won the gold-medal game 13-11 over the Toronto Varsity Blues for their first OUA baseball title.
