Big eighth inning helps Guelph Silvercreeks edge Stratford
STRATFORD – The Guelph Silvercreeks connected for seven runs in the eighth inning and then held on to edge the Stratford Nationals 14-12 in Central Ontario junior baseball league play Tuesday night at National Stadium.
The game was a see-saw battle throughout.
The teams were tied 3-3 after a pair of innings before Noah MacKillop of the Creeks hit a triple and scored on a wild pitch in the third. However, the Creeks needed two runs in the top of the sixth to tie the score 6-6.
A three-run double by Jackson Wahl was the big hit for the Creeks in the eighth.
The win leaves the Creeks at 10-2-0 in league play while Stratford drops to 3-9-1.
The Creeks are to host the Brantford Junior Red Sox (5-5-0) Wednesday at Hastings Stadium. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
