Bishop Mac at top of senior volleyball standings as Ross upended

GUELPH – The Bishop Macdonell Celtics will have plenty of thanks to give to the Centre Wellington Falcons.

The Celtics climbed to the top rung of the District 10 high school senior girls’ volleyball standings with a 3-0 win over the Orangeville Bears combined with a 3-2 win for Centre Wellington over the Ross Royals.

Bishop Mac swept Orangeville 25-22, 25-7, 25-10.

Centre Wellington dropped the first two sets of the match before rallying for the win over Ross. The Royals opened the match with 25-20 and 25-17 wins before the Falcons responded with 25-23, 25-23 and 16-14 wins.

The loss was the first in league play this season for Ross.

Bishop Mac leads at 9-1, but runner-up Ross has a game in hand as the Royals are at 8-1. St. James Lions are next at 7-3 and are followed by Centre Wellington at 5-4, Guelph CVI Green Gaels at 4-5, Centennial Spartans at 3-6, Orangeville at 1-8 and Lourdes Crusaders at 0-9.
